The Board of Directors consists of nine members, three of whom are up for re-election. Regular terms of office for Directors are for three years. The Nominating Committee has submitted the following nominees to fill these positions. The three nominees have agreed to serve.
THREE YEAR TERMS
- Arturo (Art) Fuente Jr.: A native of Tampa, Florida. He graduated from Hillsborough High School and the University of South Florida. Art spent over 18 years at the Pinellas plant with General Electric and Lockheed Martin Corporation in the engineering and manufacturing areas as an engineer and manager. Over the years Art has been involved with credit unions as a Director and as Vice President. During the past few years he has been actively involved as a member of the Supervisory Committee for GTE Federal Credit Union. He is currently the Chairperson of the Supervisory Committee. Just recently, Art joined the Ybor City Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. He is also currently the President of Tampa Sweethearts Cigar Company.
- Vickie Thompson: Retired from Verizon Communications (GTE Florida) after 30 years of service. Ms. Thompson has been a credit union member since 1973. She joined the Supervisory Committee in 1990, serving as Chairperson from 1991-1996. A Board Director, Ms. Thompson has served as Secretary/Treasurer on the Executive Committee and has chaired numerous committees. Ms. Thompson also volunteers in local community and political organizations.
- Paula Jurgenson: Retired from Verizon Communications (GTE Florida) with 30 years in the Human Resources Dept. Ms. Jurgenson is currently working part-time as an HR Consultant for Idearc Media and works part-time at Tampa General Hospital within the Volunteer Services Department. In addition, she also volunteers at TGH and is currently serving as the Recording Secretary on the TGH Auxiliary Board of Directors. A credit union member since 1972, she served on the GTE Supervisory Committee from 1996 through 2001, (Chairman from 1998 – 2001), and is a past trustee and Chairman of the GTE FCU Charitable Foundation. She has been a Board member since 2001 serving on various committees and is currently the 2nd Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors.
The Annual Membership Meeting of GTE Federal Credit Union dba GTE Financial will be held Thursday, March 28, 2013 at 4:30 pm at GTE Financial, 711 E. Henderson Ave., Tampa, Florida 33602.
Nominations for vacancies should be made by petition signed by 500 credit union members. Each nominee by petition shall submit a statement of qualifications and biographical data and a signed certificate stating that the nominee will be agreeable to nomination and will serve if elected to office with the petition. Nominations will be accepted through Monday, February 11, 2013. All nominations should be forwarded to:

The election will not be conducted by ballot and there will be no nominations from the floor when there is only one nominee for each position to be filled. If a member wishes to submit a nomination for a vacancy, it must be received by Monday, February 11, 2013.
