Debit Card Hold

When you use your debit card, a hold will be placed on your checking account for the amount authorized for purchases. This authorization hold will remain in effect until the actual transaction is received for payment or a maximum of 48 hours, whichever comes first.

What does this means to you?

If you have $100 in your checking account and you make a purchase with your debit card for $50 a hold will be placed on $50 of the funds in your checking account. If you then try to make an ATM withdraw or a purchase for $60, the transaction will be denied.

To avoid your transactions being declined you can Opt-in to GTE Financial’s Courtesy Pay program and your debit card and ATM transactions that exceed your available balance will continue to be approved up to $500 ($100.00 on new accounts).
