Gift Card FAQ:

What is a GTE gift card?
It's a one-time use prepaid gift card that can be used anywhere MasterCard® debit cards are accepted in the United States and its territories, whether in-store, online or by phone!

Where can I purchase a GTE gift card?
Gift cards may be purchased at any GTE Financial Community Financial Center or by calling Member Care at 1.888.871.2690. If you order the card by phone, it will take up to 10 business days to arrive. 

Where can a GTE gift card be used?
The GTE gift card can be used anywhere MasterCard debit cards are accepted in the United States and its territories, whether in-store, online or by phone.

How can I use a GTE gift card?
The GTE gift card can be used as a signature transaction by selecting the “credit” option, or you may set up a PIN by calling the number on the back of the card.  After obtaining a PIN, you may select the “debit” option and enter a PIN when making a purchase at a store.

Who can purchase a GTE gift card?
Any member!  There is no minimum age to purchase and no credit check required.

How do I add funds to a GTE gift card?
After you purchase the gift card for a specified amount, additional funds cannot be added to the card.

Are there limits on how much can be loaded onto a GTE gift card?
You have the option to load any amount from $10 to $1,000.

Are there any fees associated with the GTE gift card?
Yes, there is an initial purchase fee of $3.95, along with a $2.95 monthly inactivity fee after 12 consecutive months of inactivity.  There is also a $5.00 lost/stolen replacement fee if a member needs to replace their card.

What should I do if a card is lost or stolen?
If your card has been lost or stolen, please contact customer service at 1-800-827-6227.  It is recommended that this phone number be kept in a safe place for future reference.  Members will be able to speak to a live agent and obtain a replacement card for a $5.00 fee assessed to the card balance.  It may take up to 30 days to receive a replacement card.

How can I check my card balance and manage my funds?
Simply register at www.myprepaidbalance.com

Can I customize the design of the card?  Can I put a name on it?
At this time, members cannot select a custom card design or get the card embossed with a specific name; however this may be an enhancement down the road!

Can I withdraw cash from the card balance?
No, you cannot use the card to obtain cash at ATMs or obtain cash back on purchase transactions.

Can I use the gift card internationally?
No, the GTE gift card is not accepted outside the United States and its territories.

How do members register personal info online and what is the benefit of doing so?
Members may register at www.myprepaidbalance.com by creating a profile, adding their gift card to their profile and then editing the registered user name.  Registering your card will provide the additional security required to check your balance, view transaction history, use their card for phone and internet purchases or request a replacement should the card become lost or stolen.

Are funds on the card insured?
Card funds are insured by the FDIC if the member registered their card.  Registration is required on amounts above $500.  If the member is not registered, then their card balance is the same as cash.

Can members order multiple cards in one single order?
Yes! Simply ask the Member Advocate at the Community Financial Center about bulk orders.

Does the GTE gift card require a PIN?
The GTE gift card does not require a PIN if the member selects “credit” at point-of-sale.  However, a PIN may be obtained by calling the number on the back of the member’s card and following the interactive voice recognition prompts and instructions.  After obtaining a PIN, members may select “debit” at point-of-sale.

How do members set up their PIN?
Members may set up a PIN by contacting customer service at 1-800-827-6227.  This toll-free telephone number is listed on the back of the card.

What if the member forgot their PIN?
Members can reset their PIN by contacting customer service, calling the phone number on the back of their card.  They will need to speak with a live agent who will ask the member questions to verify their identity and then reset their PIN.
